Production Processes

Every production process in industries like food-industry, textile, mining wood, etc… needs either hot water, air conditioning, cooling, waste-water treatment or some or all of them at the same time. In South Africa the only conduction-bound energy is electricity, there is no gas grid like in Europe as an alternative source of energy. Escom power is unreliable, expensive and is getting more expensive every year. This hurts all industry sectors, leads to production interruptions and makes a solid return planning very difficult.
The use of efficient heat pumps can reduce dependence on the national grid in all industrial sectors.

In special cases, the grid can be largely replaced and degraded to a backup system with the help of alternative energy generation (photovoltaics, wind, new storage technologies…). Our heat pumps are able to produce and provide heat, cold and DHW simultaneously. If hot water is required simultaneously in a production process, e.g. in the food-sector, and the product is then stored in a cold room, the heat extracted during cooling can be used to produce the hot water. Only any difference quantities must be then supplied /dumped by/to an external source/dump like ambient air or ground.

The heat pump is designed to manage this on its own and chooses always the most efficient way.Our “high power” HP heat pumps have no limitation in required performance and are available in size 12-40 kW, 15-70 kW and 25-100 kW. A maximum of 6 engines can operate in cascade with only one supervising and control unit, thus providing up to 600 kW performance. They are freely to combine thus enabling you to have the perfect sizing and to operate the heat pumps in the most effective design point. If one needs an even higher performance a second cascade could provide this.
Since the heat pump can provide heat, cold and hot water at the same time and uses the corresponding potentials, significant system components of a traditional system configuration like separate heaters and chillers, can be omitted. In addition to high efficiency savings in operation, substantial savings in hardware costs can be achieved.
